Themes
Soulmate -Because Katniss, though she'd never focused on love before, wouldn't have minded to have someone who could understand her, help her even when she was being stubborn and reluctant to receive help, or even just someone who she could talk easily with and take care of her for once. It was strange to find that Seneca Crane fills the spot perfectly.
(Incompatible, it don't matter though 'cos someone's bound to hear my cry. Speak out if you do. You're not easy to find. Is it possible Mr. Loveable is already in my life? Right in front of me or maybe you're in disguise. Who doesn't long for someone to hold, who knows how to love you without being told. Somebody tell me why I'm on my own if there's a soulmate for everyone.)
The Boys Are Too Refined -Because Katniss isn't blind and she just knows Seneca's type. She also knows it's obvious his effect on her, even if she's reluctant to admit it or even to be subjected to it anyways. But she can't help herself either way.
(The boys who kiss and bite, they are the brilliant ones who speak and write with silver luck...They sing in clever tongues. Oh how my knees go weak to be the one. She kicks and bucks. Always quick to follow, the boys are too refined, won't matter tomorrow. Oh, to be in his mind. And if the timing is right to sneak off into the night, I'll let myself be taken just for the thrill. And if I'm given the chance to be a doll in his hands, I will be sure we shake the mountains while we dance.)
She's -This is admittedly how Seneca actually feels towards Katniss, and how he ended up becoming so attached and enamored with her, even with how quick and sort of spontaneous it all started. Of course, there were the feelings from before that formed a premise, but it was their first meeting that fired up their rather mismatched (on the surface) and fated but luckless romance.
(She looks into my eyes, I'm alive again. And when she says goodbye, I just die again. That's when my restlessness begins, please don't let it win, I'm so tired again. And underneath the haze, one thing still remains the same. She's the only love I've known and now she's gone away...She walked into my life and my world was still. She reached into my soul and all my doubts were killed. That's when my loneliness subsided.)
All About Us -(Instrumental version on the title page and main theme for The Taste of Nightlock on Your Lips and their relationship) Because in the end their relationship is unacceptable to everyone. They wouldn't like him because he's Capitol and the Head Gamemaker. He's older than her and of a higher class. They wouldn't like her because she's from District 12, and the Seam at that. She knows how it is to be poor and to have to work, when he's lived a cultured and priveleged life. Not only are they too different, but he's the Head Gamemaker and in charge of her fate, just as she's a tribute playing as a pawn in his game. But the others don't matter and they can't stop them from being together.
(They say they don't trust you, me, we, us, so we'll fall if we must 'cause it's you, me...and it's all about us...and that's a thing they can't touch...We'll run away if we must...If they hurt you, they hurt me too...They don't know, they can't see who we are. Fear is the enemy. Hold on tight, hold onto me.)
30 Minutes -For Katniss to make the decision and accept this strange relationship, and to say yes or no to Seneca. For her to decide if she wants to and/or is willing to be with him, even against everyone else.
(Do we run? Should I hide? For the rest of my life? Can we fly? Do I stay? We could lose, we could fail...30 minutes, a blink of an eye, 30 minutes to alter our lives, 30 minutes to make up my mind, 30 minutes to finally decide, 30 minutes to whisper your name, 30 minutes to shoulder the blame, 30 minutes of bliss, thirty lies, 30 minutes to finally decide...Under shade, silhouettes. Casting shame, crying rain...Either way, options change. Chances fail, trains derail.)
