Themes
Stairway to Heaven -Because it describes Katniss' situation and should be the theme of the story, at least her situation in the Capitol and how Seneca and some other people might see it, as well as the change in the Capitol and the coming revolution.
(With a word, she can get what she came for...And she's buying a Stairway to Heaven...In a tree by the brook, there's a songbird who sings, sometimes all of our thoughts are misgiven...And the voices of those who stand looking...And it's whispered that soon if we all call the tune, then the piper will lead us to reason. And a new day will dawn for those who stand long...If there's a bustle in your hedgerow, don't be alarmed now, it's just a spring clean for the May queen. Yes, there are two paths you can go by, but in the long run there's still time to change the road you're on. And it makes me wonder. And as we wind on down the road, our shadows taller than our soul. There walks a lady we all know, who shines white light and wants to show how everything still turns to gold.)
Everything -Because this song describes Seneca's feelings for Katniss from the beginning to the end. Every lyric in this song, I can perfectly picture Seneca from the story saying to Katniss and how the words match up to his feelings.
(I want to feel you, I need to hear you...You are the light to my soul. You are my purpose, you're my everything. How can I stand here and not be move by you?...Cause you're all I want, you're all I need, you're everything...)
You and Me -This song fits in the new life Katniss has built with Seneca, and how they seem to easily be able to work with each other in it, and particularly how Seneca sees her semi-moving on and it and Katniss herself (still) is so beautiful to him.
(Something about you now I can't quite figure out. Everything she does is beautiful, everything she does is right. Cause it's you and me and all of the people...And I don't know why I can't keep my eyes off of you...What day is it? And in what month? This clock never seemed so alive.)
Wonderwall -From Seneca to Katniss. About what she needs to do in her situation and what she's not supposed to do (according to Snow), how for awhile it seemed the situation and everything seems to have 'put her fire out', and how the Capitol citizens are speaking up and acting to her. And of course, his feelings.
(Today is gonna be the day that they're give it back to you. By now you should've somehow realized what you gotta do. I don't believe that anybody feels the way I do about you now. Backbeat the word was on the street that the fire in your heart is out...There are many things that I would like to say to you, but I don't know how...You're my wonderwall.)
Wherever You Will Go -(Suggested by rocknbash) On how Seneca feels about Katniss, and how he's willing to go wherever and do whatever for her.
(And between the sand stone, could you make it on your own? If I could, then I would, I'll go wherever you will go...To watch you, to guide you through the darkest of your days...I'll stay with you for all of time...)
Stay -(Suggested by rocknbash) Because Seneca knows by now that it would be more than hard on him if Katniss was to ever leave him for whatever reason. He's
been by her side and so used to being there for her, that he wouldn't know what to do without her. All he wants is for her to stay by his side, even if just that and they're nothing more than friends. He's waited his whole life for her, and he's lost without her.
(My whole life waiting for the right time to tell you how I feel. Know I try to tell you that I need you. Here I am without you. I feel so lost but what can I do? 'Cause I know this love seems real, but I don't know how to feel...Alright, everything is alright since you came along and before you I had nowhere to run to, nothing to hold on to. I came so close to giving it up...Stay, stay. So you change your mind and say you're mind. Don't leave tonight...)
Nothing Else Matters -(Suggested by rocknbash) Because Seneca, before Katniss, had never felt this way. And now nothing else matters other than her. Nothing anyone says, the games themselves (or the mind games Snow plays), the dates and things the Capitol citizens (and Snow and even the districts) do, or even whatever people think they know about him, Katniss, and/or their relationship.
(Never opened myself this way...And nothing else matters...Trust I seek and I find in you...Never cared for what they say, never cared for the games they played, never cared for what they do, never cared for what they know...no, nothing else matters.)
Everywhere -In the beginning of their relationship and before she finds out about his feelings (therefore before he starts practically living at er home), where Katniss is just beginning to see how much Seneca is there for her and how he's always on her mind now and she starts to care about him in return.
(And when I wake you're, you're never there. And when I sleep you're, you're everywhere, you're everywhere. Just tell me how I got this far, just tell me why you're here and who you are...'Cause you're everywhere to me and when I close my eyes, it's you I see. You're everything I know that makes me believe I'm not alone...I recognized the way you make me feel...I sense it now the water's getting deep. I try to wash the pain away from me...'Cause you're everywhere to me.)
All About Us -Katniss is able to get Seneca to reach beyond his comfort zone, and because of him has slowly become happy and adjusted to her new life -enough to be able to act carefree and bring him into her world. Now they're making moments together and everyone is slowly starting to watch and see them, and their relationship is (despite everything) progressing okay and normally. And sooner or later, they'll finally be ready for a full and official relationship with each other.
(Take my hand, I'll teach you to dance. I'll spin you around, won't let you fall. Would you let me lead? You can step on my feet. Give it a try. It'll be alright. The room's hush, hush, and now's our moment....Eyes on you, eyes on me, we're doing this right...And every heart in the room will melt, this is a feeling I've never felt, but it's a-a-all about u-u-us...Suddenly I'm feeling brave, don't know what's got into me. Why I'd feel this way?)
Castle Walls -How Katniss feels about her situation in the Capitol, as being a "hostage". Even now, when it's getting better, she sometimes still feels this way. This version of the song fits, especially with the electronical effects that give it a Capitol flair.
(Everyone thinks that I have it all, but it's so empty living behind these castle walls (these castle walls). If I should tumble, if I should fall, would anyone hear me screaming behind these castle walls? There's no one here at all, behind these castle walls. Nobody knows I'm all alone, living in this castle made of stone. They say money is freedom, but I feel trapped inside it all. And while I sit up so high on a throne, I wonder how I can feel this low. On top of the world it's beautiful, but there's no place to fall.)
Safe & Sound -Because by now the two won't let each other go and wouldn't want to leave the other alone. Together, they can make each other safe and sound. Even with the rebellion going on and they're on the brink of war, at least they'll have each other.
(I remember those tears streaming down your face when I said I'll never let you go. When all those shadows almost killed your light, I remember you said don't leave me alone tonight. Just close your eyes, the sun is going down. You'll be alright, no one can hurt you now. Come morning light, you and I will be safe and sound. Don't you dare look outside your window. Darling, everything's on fire. The war outside our door keeps raging on.)
Breathe Me -This song is for when Katniss is at her weakest, and the times where (for once) she can't pick herself up and keep moving on. So when she actually needs help and when she's actually vulnerable, when she actually falters and isn't strong, she looks to Seneca.
(Be my friend, hold me. Wrap me up, unfold me. I am small and needy. Warm me up and breathe me. Ouch, I have lost myself again. Lost myself and I am nowhere to be found. Yeah, I think I might break. Lost myself again and I feel safe...Warm me up and breathe me.)
Desperate -(On the title page and the theme for Caged Nightingale and their relationship) This song by Fireflight is actually a Christian song (shrugs), but I thought it really fit how Katniss feels about Seneca in the story and she sees that he's always there and ready to care and help her in whatever way.
(You’re who I’m counting on. Oh, tell me You’re here, that You will watch over me forever. Oh, take hold of my heart, show me You’ll love me forever, forever. I know that You can tell, when I start to let my hope fade away. I need to catch myself. Open my ears to hear You calling my name.)
